6-3 months before the wedding
  • Tux shopping or rental.
  • Make reservations for the honeymoon.
  • Make arrangements for out of town guest. In many cases you can get better rates with a hotel if you reserve a large block of rooms for the dates of your wedding.
  • Buy wedding rings, and have them engraved. The engraving can be as simple as the date of your wedding too as goofy as a nickname or phrase that means something to you both.
  • Make arrangement with clergyman or wedding officiate.

2-1 months before the wedding
  • Get marriage license. In most states you will have to go with your fiancé to actually get the license, but it will be your responsibility to know what to bring to the courthouse and to make the appointment.
  • Make reservations for the rehearsal dinner.
  • Reserve your limo for the bridal party and your escape from the reception.
  • Buy attendants gifts. A nice flask or money clip engraved with your wedding date (or their initials) is a simple solution, but you should but a little thought into what gift you finally give out.
  • Plan/attend your bachelor party. The planning should be left up to your best man if you are following strict tradition, but as a groom you do get a say in how you spend your last night as a free man.
1 Week before the wedding
  • Get a haircut
  • Confirm time and place for wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner with all the attendants
  • Pick up wedding rings
  • Give best man clergyman’s fee in an envelope
  • Pack for your honeymoon
  • Buy new boxer/briefs for the big day. Save the holey boxers for later on in the marriage, today is for putting your best foot forward.
Day before the wedding
  • Pick up your tux, and make sure that your groomsmen, father, and ring bearer get their tuxes as well. You can all go together and make it an event or work it out so you schedule the pick up before the rehearsal so you can ride together.
  • Pack a bag if you are going to be getting dressed somewhere other than home.
  • Make sure that you pack the wedding rings in that bag!
With this wedding guide your groom will know exactly what his responsibilities are and in a way that will give him some ownership of the wedding. We all know brides are the stars of the show, but you wouldn’t be a star with out your co-star!
